From October 15 to 16, the 27th International Conference on Magnetically Levitated Systems and Linear Drives (MAGLEV 2026) was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province. A delegation of 30 faculty members and students from the Maglev Transportation Engineering R&D Center of Tongji University (hereinafter referred to as the Maglev Center) attended the conference. Through various formats including keynote speeches, parallel session presentations, and poster exhibitions, the delegation comprehensively presented Tongji University's research foundation and technological breakthroughs in the field of maglev transportation.

The conference was hosted by the State Key Laboratory of High-Speed Maglev Transportation Technology and jointly organized by the High-Speed Maglev Committee of the China Railway Society, CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., Tongji University, Shanghai Shentong Metro Group, and other institutions. With the theme of “Advancing Maglev Technology Innovation for Global Sustainable Development,” the conference focused on frontier directions such as high-speed maglev system integration, levitation and guidance control, traction drive, intelligent operation and maintenance and lightweight technology. A total of seven parallel forums were set up, and over 200 academic papers were accepted. More than 300 experts and scholars from over 10 countries and regions, including China, Germany, Japan, Sweden, and Brazil, gathered to discuss development. Prof. Lin Guobin from Maglev Center, who is also a member of the MAGLEV Executive Committee, served as the Co-Chair of this conference and chaired the keynote session.

Prof. Xu Junqi, Director of the Maglev Center, was invited to deliver a keynote speech titled “Development Status and Trends of High-Speed Maglev Transportation Technology.”

During the parallel sessions, the Maglev Center delivered a total of 21 presentations and showcased 7 academic posters. During the conference, the faculty and student delegation engaged in in-depth academic discussions with several top international research institutions. Focusing on core topics such as joint research on key technologies, reciprocal visits of young scholars, and joint postgraduate training, they reached multiple preliminary cooperation consensuses, laying a solid foundation for subsequent international collaborative innovation.

Founded in 1977 and held every two years, the International Conference on Magnetically Levitated Systems and Linear Drives is the highest-level and most influential international academic conference in the global maglev field. The 28th International Conference on Magnetically Levitated Systems and Linear Drives will be held in Italy in 2028 and hosted by the University of L'Aquila.
